In the sunset seascape of the Shem River, shrimp boats are silhouetted against the luminous sky. The filtered light of fog and mist underscore the quiet rocking of the boats anchored along the coastline of Long Beach, MS. Similarly, a blanket of fog permeates the salt marshes in St. Mark's Preserve in the Florida panhandle. Quite a different mood (one of sharp, vivid clarity) is portrayed in the Lunenburg Nova Scotia waterfront and in the Sunflowers and Lace Laundry and Swing on the East End of Long Island; while the viewer peeks through to the sunlight beyond the traditional barn workplace in the Amish lumbermil photograph.
